Since our last newsletter, we presented with the outdoor sector at the Outdoors NSW & ACT Master Class, their Outdoor Learning Conference and the Outdoors Victoria conference. The Disaster and Emergency Management Conference shortly followed before heading to the Australian Disaster Resilience Conference, where we had the privilege to run a stall in their Resilience Lane exhibit. Resilience Lane is dedicated to community focused organisations working on resilience building and recovery processes. We were delighted to be able to contribute to the space and engage with such a wide range of delegates. Every conversation we have strengthens our model and sharpens our approach to climate adaptation and risk mitigation practices for the sector.
Our Outdoor Sector Survey is still open, and we’re closing in on our goal! We’ve had 176 responses so far and we’re aiming for 250 — so if you haven’t filled it out yet, now’s the time. We’d especially love to hear from outdoor program and activity managers in the NT, QLD, SA and TAS. This consultation directly shapes our programming and long-term plan. Share this newsletter with your networks to help us reach that target!
With El Niño declared and all forecasts indicating an above-average bushfire risk across much of the country this spring, now is the time to start preparing for the high-risk weather season ahead. NatCORR will be running an outdoor sector specific High-Risk Weather Season briefing in October, delivered as a webinar with the Bureau — more details coming soon!
We’re also changing things up on our end — from now on, you’ll be hearing from us bi-monthly rather than quarterly, so expect more regular updates on NatCORR’s work.
