Welcome to the first quarterly update of the National Centre for Outdoor Risk & Readiness known as NatCORR.

Welcome to the first NatCORR newsletter. The National Centre for Outdoor Risk and Readiness is an initiative to support the outdoors sector – and all people who enjoy the outdoors – to adapt and prepare for volatile and changing climatic conditions.

Community engagement is critical to ensure NatCORR is developed to help address the challenges we are facing in the outdoors, in a way that is immediately useful. Co-design Webinars are a key part of the engagement process. Thank you to those who participated in Co-design Webinar #1 in November 2022. Learn more about registering for #2 on 28th March, below.

We are thrilled to welcome Nicky Hanson as NatCORR Project Manager. The newsletter showcases Nicky’s great progress, with NatCORR’s website live this week and the launch of the first NatCORR program activity – a National Incident Response Workshop roadshow scheduled for July 2023.

Co-Design Webinar # 1 November 22

The first NatCORR Co-Design Webinar was held on November 21st, 2022. We had 75 attendees, mainly online & some in person. Our recording of the webinar has had 137 views since November. Thanks so much to those who completed the online survey during the webinar. It has formed the basis of the NatCORR focus and priorities for you, the outdoor sector in Australia.

We are being keenly watched by international outdoor practitioners as this is the first of its kind in the world!

NatCORR Launch December 2022

The National Centre for Outdoor Risk & Readiness (NatCORR) was officially launched on December 9th, 2022. This coincided with the Outward Bound Australia AGM.

Beau Miles kindly officiated & inspired at the official launch of this project. Thanks Beau!

NatCORR Project Manager Appointed

Nicky Hanson has been appointed as the NatCORR Project Manager.

Hailing from WA, Nicky & her partner Simon were the owner/operators of Explorus Adventure Learning for 24 years.

She is excited about the scope & potential of this project from a national perspective & she is happy to answer any questions you may have!

Incident Response Workshops National Roadshow – July 2023

We are very excited to be offering this national professional development opportunity in July 2023.

These workshops are designed & delivered by leading international practitioners in risk & crisis management – Dr Clare Dallat & Deb Ajango. Add to this a highly experienced media skills trainer with intimate knowledge of the outdoor sector – Sonia Zavesky.

Workshops will be available in Victoria, NSW, ACT, WA & QLD.
