Bushfire Impact Community Discussion Webinar
On 29 January 2026, NatCORR brought together outdoor educators, schools, camps, peak bodies, and partner organisations for a Bushfire Impact Community Discussion, providing space to share lived experiences and reflect on the current bushfire season. Participants spoke candidly about the impacts on people, programs, and communities — from infrastructure loss and program disruption to the ongoing mental load of hyper‑vigilance, anxiety, and increased workloads during what is traditionally a recovery period.
A strong message emerged that bushfires are no longer isolated events but an ongoing reality requiring collective, long‑term responses. The discussion highlighted the importance of staff wellbeing, adaptive risk management, equitable access to outdoor experiences, and continued sector collaboration. NatCORR will continue working with partners to support resilience, learning, and recovery across the outdoor sector.
